Mountain-ash has pinnately compound, alternate leaves, with flat topped clusters of small white flowers that develop after the leaves appear. The fruit is a small, apple-like red or orange fruit. Mountain-ash can grow 30-45' tall. It is frequently used as an ornamental. The berries feed birds and are also used to make preserves.
